Important information regarding Covid-19

At MC2 Accountants, we are closely monitoring the situation and adherence to the Government guidelines, where possible, we have activated our remote working policy, so we can continue to provide all our services to you with minimal disruption.

Currently, we do have staff in the office to facilitate you dropping off your books and records.  We also have a post box if you wish to drop any items out of hours.

As you will appreciate, this is an unprecedented situation and the following are current government guidelines which we feel you should be aware of as a business owner.

Revenue announced measures last Friday the 13 of March to assist SME’s experiencing cashflow difficulties:

 

Tax Returns        

Businesses experiencing temporary cash flow difficulties should continue to send in tax returns on time.  Where businesses are due a refund of taxes, submission of these returns should be submitted as early as possible to advance cashflow to businesses.

Application of Interest

The application of interest on late payments is suspended for January/February VAT and both February and March PAYE (Employers) liabilities.

Debt Enforcement

All debt enforcement activity is suspended until further notice.

Tax Clearance

Current tax clearance status will remain in place for all businesses over the coming months.

RCT Rate Review

Rate review scheduled to take place in March 2020 is suspended.

We encourage you to contact your Bank as soon as possible and discuss your business needs to protect cashflow.

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection

The Department are encouraging employers to retain employees where possible and has set up a refund scheme for employers to pay staff €203 weekly for each worker who would otherwise be laid off.

 

Employees who are laid off temporarily, without pay, due to a reduction in business activity, can apply for a Jobseeker’s Payment. This application can be made online at www.mywelfare.ie or in person at an Intreo Centre.

 

Employees who are put onto short-time working by their employer due to a reduction in business activity related to Covid-19, may apply for a Short Time Work Support payment.

Covid 19 Unemployment Payment

This is a new payment to all employees and the self-employed who have lost their jobs due to the downturn in the economy caused by Covid 19. The payment is a simple one-page application and will be paid for 6 weeks at a flat rate of €203 per week. Individuals applying for the payment will have to apply for the normal jobseekers’ payments within the 6-week period.
